Sanjeev Mane becomes Maharashtra’s smart farmer

Mane’s unique technique aimed at increasing productivity of sugarcane crop is proving beneficial to many farmers across the State. At a ceremony held in Tilak Samark Mandir auditorium, Mane received this award from Co-operative Minister Subhash Deshmukh.

Pune: The prestigious ‘Agrowan Smart Shetkari’ award was conferred upon the progressive farmer Sanjeev Mane from Ashta Taluka in Sangli district at a special ceremony in the city on Friday evening. 

Mane’s unique technique aimed at increasing productivity of sugarcane crop is proving beneficial to many farmers across the State. At a ceremony held in Tilak Samark Mandir auditorium, Mane received this award from Co-operative Minister Subhash Deshmukh.

The wide array of cultural programmes including dance and popular songs were presented on this occasion. 
Pratap Pawar, Chairman of Sakal Media Group; Bhausaheb Patil, Director; Shriram Pawar, Executive Editor; Mahendra Pisal, Chief Operating Officer; Adinath Chavan Agrowon Editor and Pramod Rajebhosale General Manager were present at this occasion. 

Atul Jain, Joint Managing Director of Jain Irrigation System, Ramesh Kshirsagar General Manager of Bank of Maharashtra, Kishor Mane, Chairman of Sonai Cattle Feed, Narendra Deshmukh Vice President of SmartChem Technology, Vijayrao Patil, Joint Vice President, Vinita Joshi, Regional Manager of Oriental Insurance Company, Brijmohan Chaudhari of Chaudhari Yatra Company, Dr Madhav Natekar, Technology Head of UPL were present at the occasion.

Around 11 progressive farmers received ‘Agrowon Smart Award’ The programme was sponsored by Sonai Cattle Feeds, UPL, Jain Irrigation Systems Limited, SmartChem Fertilisers Limited, Bank of Maharashtra, Oriental Insurance, Chaudhari Yatra Company.

Agrowon Smart Shetkari award is considered to be the most anticipated event in the field of Agriculture. The State-level selection committee selects five farmers at the state level and five from the division of the state. 

Former VC Dr Vyankat Mayande, Agricultural Expert Dr Tarannum Kadarbhai and Organic Farming expert Ankush Padwale were members of this committee. 

Mane received Rs 1 lakh cash, citation, and memento as a part of this Agrowon Smart Shetkari award amidst the thunderous round of applause. 

Co-operative Minister Deshmukh praised farmers who received award at this function. Deshmukh said that the initiative by Agrowon to felicitate farmers for their inspiring practises is a welcome move in today’s time faced with challenges and disappointment.
