Sambhaji Brigade organises essay contest to mock govt

Pune: Sambhaji Brigade has organised an essay competition on the subject of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance to bring back black money deposited in Swiss banks by Indians and deposits of Rs 15 lakh in each citizens’ bank account.

The competition is open for all age groups. Sambhaji Brigade’s Economic Wing has organised this competition to show people how the BJP has failed in fulfilling promises made by them during the last Lok Sabha polls held in 2014. It wants people to react on the fact on how nationalised banks pressurise small borrowers, Sambhaji Brigade members said on Monday.

Prabhakar Kondhalkar, co-ordinator of Sambhaji Brigade’s economic wing, said, “In 2014 Lok sabha polls, BJP gave assurances that the government will deposit Rs 15 lakh in each Indian’s account. However, the government has failed to do so. On the other hand, businessmen took loans worth crores from nationalised banks and have left the country. Banks are giving taxpayers money to big businessmen. These banks are torturing small borrowers to repay loans. So, we have decided to appeal to citizens to express their opinions about the failure of the government.”

He added, “We have decided to give three prizes of Rs 11,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000. We have given 20 days deadline to send the essays on email address prabhakar.kondhalkar@gmail.com as well as the office address Prabhakar Kondhalkar, Muktangan Society, Dhankawadi, Chavan Nagar, Pune 43.”

Topics include: ‘Death sentence to black money holders’, ‘Whether to pay loan amounts to nationalised banks’ and ‘Why has the government failed to deposit Rs 15 lakh in each person’s account’.
