Pune: Around 2,000 schools spread across Maharashtra and Goa are participating in the Sakal Drawing Competition 2017 and are eager to welcome budding artists.
Drawing material has reached the remotest corners of the two states for the 32nd Sakal Drawing Competition. A large number schoolchildren are directly participating in the contest.
And it is the biggest such event for school students in the country. Students from other states across the country and abroad are taking part in the online version of the competition.
The competition will begin for the students of Std V to X at 9 am while it will begin for the students of Std I to IV at 11.30 am.
Those students, who have not registered themselves through their schools, can do so by visiting a nearby centre.
The participants will have to carry their own colour boxes while Sakal will provide them drawing papers for free. There is no entry fee for the contest. Details about the contest have already been published in this newspaper.
Over 60 ashramshalas (schools for tribal children) and over 50 schools for special children from Maharashtra and Goa will also participate in this event.
The competition is powered by LuvIt Chocolates and LIC while the associate sponsors are the Sri Chaitanya Techno School and Jingle Toons. Its eyecare partner is India’s leading opticians Gangar Eyenation. The environment partner is the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board while the Corporate Partner is Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.
This contest is one of the major initiatives for children launched by the Sakal Media Group, which believes that ‘children are the future of this country’. Hence, it publishes ‘Sakal NIE’ and takes the initiatives such as ‘Sakal Young Buzz’.
The results of the competition will be published in January 2018.
Later, an exhibition of the drawings of the state level and the Pune division level winners and the prize distribution will be held in Pune.
Open to all students
The contest is open to the students of Std I to X in Maharashtra and Goa. There is no entry fee for the contest. It will be held in four groups.
- Group A: Standard I & II
- Group B: Standard III & IV
- Group C: Standard V to VII
- Group D: Standard VIII to X
Group A and B: 11.30 am to 12.30 pm
Group C and D: 9 am to 10.30 am
- The state-level winners from each group will receive the first prize of Rs 2,500, the second prize of Rs 2,000 and the third prize of Rs 1,500. Five consolation prizes of Rs 1,000 each will also be distributed.
The winners at the divisional-level will receive the first prize of Rs 1,000, the second prize of Rs 750 and the third prize of Rs 500 and five consolation prizes of Rs 250 each.
- The winners from the central-level will receive a cash prize of Rs 100 for the first winner, Rs 75 for the second winner and Rs 50 for the third winner. A certificate each will be given to five participants as the consolation prize.
