PUNE: The staff of Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) stopped work on Friday due to long pending demands. The staff was on duty but no work was done which hampered the schedule of applicants.

President of Regional Transport Office Employees Union Jagdish Kande, said, “There are several demands which are pending from past few years. We had discussed them on January 31 with Additional Transport Commissioner, but the talks were not fruitful. Hence, we decided to observe ‘No work for one day.’ All staff across Pune region were present, but no single work was done.”

Applicants who reached the RTO for different works had to return empty-handed as more than 500 employees of all RTOs including Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Baramati, Akluj and Solapur stopped their work. Rajesh Patwardhan reached Pune RTO for renewal of his licence, but returned home without any work done.

“I was told by a staff that I have to submit all documents on Friday. When I reached there, I was surprised that no work was being done. I will have to visit again on the next working day,” he said.
