RTO earns Rs 25.2 cr from sale of vehicles

Pune: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pune has registered huge sales of vehicles during Diwali season this year and has earned Rs 25.2 crore in revenue from the sale of 14,185 vehicles.

The registration figure provided by the department is from November 1 to 6. As compared to last year, the RTO earned Rs 17.5 crore from sale of 10,800 vehicles.

The figure is higher than the sales of vehicles during Dussehra. The RTO had registered 5,085 vehicles between October 15 and 18 and had generated Rs 20.25 crore in revenue.

As per the RTO, the vehicles were purchased between November 1 to 6, considered as auspicious. The revenue was higher than expected, said the officer. This year 9,478 two-wheelers, 3,471 four-wheelers and 1,235 commercial vehicles were purchased.

“We were expecting such a figure. We were very hopeful that this time the figure will be higher. In the two-wheeler segment, scooters were in demand compared to motorbikes. In fact, sales of four-wheelers also touched a good figure,” said Deputy RTO, Pune, Sanjay Rout.
