Pune: The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has planned an auction of 140 unclaimed vehicles seized during various drives. The vehicles were seized for various reasons, including non-payment of taxes and were also booked under sections of Motor Vehicle Act.
Officials from RTO said that the auction will be held on August 3 at the RTO premises at 11 am. Vehicles listed for auction include a private car, truck, tourist taxis, a bus and scrapped auto-rickshaws. All these vehicles, at present, have been kept at the campuses of RTO at Sangam bridge and Alandi Road, besides depots of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML).
“This year, it has taken some time because when we sent notices to these vehicles owners, they had not turned up with their valid papers. Our officials visited their offices, residences and the addresses mentioned as per our records. Out of 500 vehicles, only 140 did not respond to our notices, while inquiry of the remaining 360 vehicles is in progress. We will start auctions of these vehicles on August 3,” said Sanjay Raut, Deputy Regional Transport Officer, Pune.
Officials said that notice of auction has been put up on the notice boards of RTO and district collector’s office and the office of Pune city Tehsildar. Vehicles are available for inspection at the respective depots. Those who wish to participate in the auction are expected to complete formalities, including payment of a deposit.
