Pune: A city-based RTI activist, Vivek Velankar, has written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, questioning him about the reasons behind the untimely transfer of Nashik Divisional Commissioner Mahesh Zagade. Recently, Zagade was transferred as a principal secretary at the General Administration Department.

Speaking on the issue, Vivek said that Zagade was transferred in less than a year of his service as Nashik Divisional Commissioner.

“An IAS officer should be serving for at least two years at the post and Zagade is soon to retire. As there are no clear reasons behind the transfer of Zagade, Chief Minister Fadnavis should tell us the reason behind his transfer. He can disclose the information as per the Right to Information Act. If the Chief Minister does not respond, then we can file a Section 18 complaint to the Chief Information Commissioner,” added Velankar.

Earlier, similar questions had been raised when Zagade was made the chief of Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority. When contacted, Mahesh Zagade refused to comment on the issue.
