As Sakal Times had reported a couple of days ago, the process of RTE admissions had slowed down due to the Lok Sabha elections.

PUNE: The State government has extended the deadline for admissions in the first round under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act. The parents, who have been allotted schools in the first statewide lottery, can now take admissions till May 4.

Earlier, the last date for admissions was April 26.

“Considering the demands of parents and several organisations, we have decided to extend the deadline by another week,” the notice signed by State Education Director (Primary) Sunil Chauhan said.

As Sakal Times had reported a couple of days ago, the process of RTE admissions had slowed down due to the Lok Sabha elections. Many teachers and education officers in the committee appointed to verify the documents submitted by the parents had election duties. This made it impossible to finish the process in time.

As the last phase of polling in the State will be on April 29, it may help pace up the RTE admissions process further.
