RSA members write to CM regarding various issues

Pune: Members of the Rashtriya Shramik Aghadi (RSA), headed by Yashwant Bhosale, have written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to look into various issues of labour contractors, rehabilitation of locals and other issues of MIDC areas in Pune, after a delegation of CEOs and directors of German firms, based in various MIDC areas around Pune, raised issues pertaining to the security, infrastructure and condition of roads with district administration, last week.

The German Industrial Delegation (GID) had asked the district administration to look into the issue of infrastructure, traffic, and law and order. Speaking on the issue, Bhosale said, “These companies in MIDC areas have been provided with benefits of land, water, electricity among others and now they are complaining of extortion and infrastructure issues. I feel the MIDC areas of Pune have a great infrastructure and these companies have no reason to crib about on infrastructure issues. We have learnt that the GID including Juergen Morhard, Consul General of Germany, has threatened to move to Shanghai from Pune if their demands are not met. However, we are questioning the benefits provided to our State by these companies.”

He claimed that most of the workers in the industrial area on a contract basis. “These companies are hand-in-glove with the goons who do not allow the formation of labour unions in these companies,” added Bhosale, who was addressing a press meet on Saturday afternoon, at hotel Kalasagar in Kasarwadi.

Following the concerns raised by GID, the rural police headed by rural Superintendent Sandip Patil has lodged two cases of locals threatening the industrialists in Ranjangaon MIDC. Bhosale said that he will be meeting rural Superintendent Sandip Patil and Collector Naval Kishore Ram to explain them the issue. “If locals are being booked, why are the police and other authorities mum on the issue of rights of employees. Can all these companies claim that they are providing necessary benefits to their employees? Can the police and other authorities check whether these companies are following rules of provident fund, health and safety of employees, employee insurance, minimum wages and other benefits?” Bhosale asked. Also, it should be checked whether these companies are adhering to norms of pollution control,” he added.
