Pune: A fund of Rs 2 crore has been approved by the Pune Collector for building an alternative one-kilometer road to Bhimshankar Temple.
Superintending Engineer RS Rahane said that tenders to build the 5.5-metre wide and 1-km long road will be floated soon. “An amount of Rs 2 crore has been approved by the Collector. The road will be smooth and will be helpful for disabled persons. Currently, people have to use steps to reach the shrine. An alternate road will be built, which will also be used for VIP entries. Earlier, people had to use a kuccha road and it caused problems in the rainy season; people had to use JCB machines to reach the shrine. Now, the problems will reduce. We expect to start the work in about a month,” said Rahane.
