RPF nabs three dacoits on Ajmer Garib Rath

PUNE: The Railway Protection Force at Satara under the Pune division has nabbed three dacoits red-handed while attempting to rob passengers. The incident took place on Saturday at around 2 pm in train number 16532 Ajmer Garib Rath between Karad and Satara railway stations.

According to the RPF, “Five dacoits boarded the unreserved compartment attached to the guard cabin when the train started and threatened passengers at knife-point and snatched their mobile phones and wallets. Some passengers informed the RPF control room. On learning about the incident, RPF staff led by Inspector Ajay Sansare at Satara station, laid a trap outside the station to nab the dacoits red-handed.”

“On receiving information, a proper ambush on both sides of the track at Satara station was set. But the train slowed down before that due to traffic and three dacoits tried to escape taking advantage of sugarcane fields towards a nearby road. But while doing so, the passengers of the general coach caught hold of one criminal and handed him over to the waiting RPF staff at Satara station. The two dacoits that were held inside the train by some passenger were also handed over to the police,” said D Vikas, Divisional Security Commissioner.

The nabbed dacoits were identified as Sagar Sanjay Shinde, Ajit Tanaji Chavan and Suraj Rajendra Kanse, all residents of Satara. During interrogation, they admitted to having committed the offence. During their personal search, RPF recovered 4 mobile phones and two wallets with Rs 1,450 in cash.

The RPF team in civil clothes was formed under the supervision of Satara RPF Inspector Ajay Sansare, HY Pawar, Vilas Patil, Ingulkar, MS Kaginkar, Vijay Patil, BS Bansode, SK Dhygude and Amol Patil.
