Rose exhibition to be held in Pune on Sept 16 and 17

Pune: Rose Society of Pune has organised its 100th Rose Exhibition at Tilak Maharashtra University, Mukund Nagar on September 16 and 17. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Anil Kumar, MD of CTR Industries.

More than 250 kinds of roses from all over India will be exhibited in this exhibition along with some newly invented species of the flower. This huge exhibition will have 26 stalls which will have various coloured flower plants, garden equipment, fertilisers, seeds and pesticides for sale.

People will be able to visit the exhibition from 1 pm to 8 pm on September 16 and between 9 am and 8 pm on September 17.

Dr KV Prasad, Director ICAR- DFR, will guide farmers on modern technology for rose plantation in a gathering of farmers from Pune and other districts on September 17 between 9 am and noon. Later in the evening, he will be the chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony. The members of Maharashtra Nursery Association will exhibit new species of roses at their stalls.

The Rose Society of Pune is celebrating 55 year of their establishment this year. A few rose lovers in the city came together in 1962 and formed the society, taking inspiration from Jayantrao Tilak, Editor of Kesari and then President of Legislative Council. The rose exhibition was earlier held in Kesariwada during Ganeshotsav.
