Road work projects should have deadlines: DCP (Traffic)
No Obection Certificate for road projects which cross deadline may be revoked
Pune: Newly-appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch) Pankaj Deshmukh on Monday said the road project works should have deadlines, else the department will cancel the no-objection certificates (NOC).
After taking over charge on Friday, he was interacting with mediapersons at the Police Commissioner’s office. “At many places, there are diversions, road width has decreased due to ongoing development works. Many projects go on and on, causing inconvenience to people. I have discussed the issue with the Commissioner of Police, and we believe that the projects should have a time frame for completion. The NOC of the Traffic Branch is required for any work on the road, hence we reserve the right to revoke the NOC if the projects are not completed on time,” Deshmukh said.
The former SP of Satara added that the Traffic Branch will focus on regulations and enforcement of traffic rules.
“I am taking reviews of the issues here and have learnt about the helmet rule enforcement. We will continue to be strict when it comes to helmet rule or any other traffic rule,” he added.
He appealed to people to inform the Traffic Branch about any person/ vehicle violating traffic rules, through Facebook and Twitter.
Action against BJP workers
- When pointed out that BJP workers were not wearing helmets during a rally on Sunday, DCP (Traffic) Deshmukh said he will check the details and if they are found to be violating any traffic rule including the helmet rule, then action would be taken against them.
