Rly employee wins Chess Championship for disabled

Pune Divisional Railway Manager BK Dadabhoy congratulated him during a special event. With this win, Kutawal’s FIDE rating has gone up to 2,236 globally. Earlier, he had also won the gold medal in the World Chess Championship held in Slovakia

Pune: Shashikant Kutwal, a Railway employee of Pune division, has once again displayed his talent at the international level. He recently secured the gold medal in the first ‘Disabled Asian Chess’ (Chase) Championship organised from September 14 to 22 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Pune Divisional Railway Manager BK Dadabhoy congratulated him during a special event. With this win, Kutawal’s FIDE rating has gone up to 2,236 globally. Earlier, he had also won the gold medal in the World Chess Championship held in Slovakia.

On this occasion, Divisional Sports Officer Deepak Kumar, along with a large number of officers and employees, was present. Dadabhoy said it was a matter of great pride for the Pune division that Shashikant had elevated the name of Pune division to the world level.
