We haven’t receive any of the Std IX textbooks of English medium yet. Some  textbooks of Marathi medium have arrived, and the rest are expected in the next couple of days as schools are going to reopen soon

Pune: While the date of reopening of schools is round the corner, all new textbooks with revised syllabus for Std IX are still not available. Balbharti Director Sunil Magar, however, stated that most textbooks of Std IX with revised syllabus are already out in the market. But most city book shops had not received most of the new Std IX textbooks till Sunday.

“We haven’t receive any of the Std IX textbooks of English medium yet. Some  textbooks of Marathi medium have arrived, and the rest are expected in the next couple of days as schools are going to reopen soon,” said a staffer at Pragati Book Centre in Appa Balwant Chowk.

A staffer at Natraj Book Store in the same area said that as the books have not yet come, guides, workbooks and other related material too hasn’t come to the market yet. “For Marathi medium, all the other textbooks except for the languages have arrived, and are being bought by the people. Usually, by this time, we start selling guides and other self study material as well along with textbooks. Parents are asking for them, but as some Std IX textbooks arrived late this year, and the others haven’t yet come, we are unable to sell those right now,” he added.

While this is the situation at Appa Balwant Chowk, the book hub of the city, there are many bookshops around the city that have  not received any Std IX textbooks till Sunday.

“We have not received any new textbooks yet. This delay has made parents very worried. Although we are informing them that the books will arrive soon, we aren’t sure of the exact date when they will come,” said a staffer at Wisdom Book Store in Kothrud.

Speaking on the issue, Sunil Magar said, “There has been a delay in the textbook distribution due to revised syllabus. However, textbooks of many subjects have already reached the market. The rest that haven’t will be out very soon, certainly before June 15.”
