Retired PMC employees’ parents to get medical insurance

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to give medical insurance to parents of retired employees of the corporation. On Friday, the administration gave the green signal to this demand of different workers’ unions.

At present, retired employees get medical insurance for their wives and children. The civic body pays 90 per cent amount of premium while remaining is paid by employees. However, workers union had been demanding that it was difficult to manage health expenses of parents after retirement.

At present, retired employees get medical insurance for their wives and children. The civic body pays 90 per cent amount of premium while remaining is paid by employees. However, workers union had been demanding that it was difficult to manage health expenses of parents after retirement. 

Commissioner Kunal Kumar agreed to include parents in medical insurance but the administration will cut a certain amount from the employees’ provident fund to compensate. More than 2,000 retired employees will benefit from this move.
