Retd IAS officer may join NCP, contest from Maan

Pune: Retired IAS officer Prabhakar Deshmukh, who recently retired as Divisional Commissioner of Konkan region, is likely to join the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and may contest from Maan assembly constituency in Satara district.

As Deshmukh retired from service, his supporters arranged a felicitation programme in the presence of NCP leader Sharad Pawar and other leaders from the State. Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council Ramraje Nimbalkar, Pune District Guardian Minister Girish Bapat, Ministers of State Mahadev Jankar and Vijay Shivtare, former minister Harshwardhan Patil were among other dignitaries present for the felicitation ceremony.

During the felicitating programme, most of the leaders spoke about Deshmukh’s future political entry. Even Bapat announced that Deshmukh will join NCP.

Shiv Sena leader Shivthare also announced Deshmukh’s future entry into politics and welcomed him.

While felicitating Deshmukh, Pawar urged him to be active in social life and represent Satara district and mainly the issues related to his native place.

Deshmukh is considered as a Pawar loyalist. Considering the relations between Pawar and Deshmukh, it is clear that he will prefer NCP over other political parties.
