PUNE: The residents of Megapolis Township, located at Hinjawadi phase 3, were irked with the non-operational Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and sewage line, which led to stinking of the toilets. The agitated residents met Sudhir Nage, Executive Engineer of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), who assured them that the matter will be looked into.
Nage told the residents that if the builder of the society fails to take appropriate steps regarding it, then he will personally take efforts to install a STP with the help of Maharashtra Pollution State Control Board (MPCB).
Anshul Gupta, a resident of Megapolis Township and member of Liveable Hinjewadi group, told Sakal Times that their only concern was that there should be a common STP.
“The STP installed by the builder cannot process or take the load of the society. Sometimes the maintenance is not done properly due to which the STP stops processing the sewage water and this leads to water blockage leading to stinking of the toilets,” said Gupta.
He said, “During the meeting, Nage told us to take up the issue first with the builder and if he fails to solve the issue, then we can approach MPCB. Nage assured us to that he will accompany us to the MPCB office.”
Meanwhile, Nage told Sakal Times, “Actually, the residents should have taken their grievances to the MPCB as the matter is under their region, but since they approached us i.e. MIDC, we will try to support and help them in solving the issue. However, they have to first talk with their builder before approaching MPCB officials.”
