Pune: Thousands of commuters are facing a problem while crossing the railway line near the Ghorpadi railway track. The issue has been pending for over five years now, but the problem is yet to be resolved due to the land acquisition for construction of a new bridge.

The defence ministry has given permission to PMC to build the bridge, but the work is yet to begin. The work of the flyover has also been stopped due to the rehabilitation of the local residents, which is affecting the work. As far as railway crossing is concerned, the two at Ghorpadi — within a range of a kilometre have become a nightmare for these locals.

The PCB has made it clear that the land acquisition work is to be done by the PMC. MB Sable, Deputy Executive Engineer of PCB, said, “The State government approves the construction of the bridge and the land acquisition is made clear by the corporation.”

Jojneswar Sharma, DGDE, said, “We have already given space for the construction of the flyover. It is the responsibility of the State government and the local municipal body to rehabilitate the local residents. The bridge cannot be built until this work is completed.”
