Pune: The third special voter enrolment drive proved successful for the election branch of the district administration, as around 14,545 applications were received on Saturday, which included new registrations, change in address and correction of names from the voters’ list.
According to information given by the Deputy Election Officer, Monika Singh, a total of 39,000 persons were benefited through the three special drives.
The third special drive was conducted across 21 constituencies in Pune district. The first and second drives were conducted on June 23 and July 14
As per Singh, they received 10,522 applications under ‘Form No 6’ for new voter registration, 1,691 applications under ‘Form No 7’ for deletion of the name due to death, 1,861 applications under ‘Form No 8’ for correction of names in voters’ list and 471 applications under ‘Form No 8A’ for change in name for migration purpose.
Officials of the election branch are also organising marathons at several places to spread awareness about the registration drive.
