Ravindra Talpe honoured with special award

Pune: On the occasion of World Tribal Day, social worker Ravindra Talpe was honoured with a special award at a function held at Shaniwarwada.

Talpe received this award for his efforts that led to transformation at several ashramshalas in the state.

Senior Supreme Court Advocate Manoj Gorkela and Uttarakhand MLA Deshraj Karanwal presented this award to Talpe. Pune Mayor Mukta Tilak was also present on the occasion.

Talpe is pursuing the cases of deaths of students in several Tribal Ashramshalas. He has filed Public Interest Litigation in the High Court. Moreover, the Governor of Maharashtra recently approved the launch of India's first Competitive Examination Scheme for tribal students which is considered as a noble initiation by Talpe.

Speaking about this award, Talpe said  he is dedicating this award to the thousands of students who died in tribal ashram schools and to hundreds of unwed mothers.
