Ramwadi underpass work to be completed soon: PMC

Pune: Residents of Vimannagar have a reason to smile as after much delay the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to complete the construction of the Ramwadi underpass connecting Kalyani Nagar and Airport Road.

The PMC opened the half-completed underpass in April 2015 but due to litigation over a part of the land it failed to complete the construction work of the underpass. Due to the incomplete work, several accidents have taken place in the underpass, some of them fatal. The Vimannagar Citizens’ Forum asked the PMC to close the underpass till its work was completed.

To complete the work, the PMC decided to appoint a private agency. The cost of the project is Rs 3.83 crore.

One side of the underpass coming from Kalyani Nagar to Airport Road is complete but the other side going from Airport to Kalyani Nagar is incomplete due to litigation between the plot holder and the PMC.

The PMC managed to resolve the matter and the construction of the remaining part will be completed to open the underpass from both sides. A proposal in this regard has been tabled before the Standing Committee, so after getting its nod, the work will start.
