Pune: After weeks of blazing heat, Puneites got some respite as there was rainfall and thunderstorm across the city late Sunday afternoon. The usual heat subsided as black clouds loomed over the city.


Strong winds followed by heavy rains were witnessed in Kothrud, NIBM, Kharadi, Lohegaon, Shivajinagar, Deccan, Aundh and other parts of the city. A light drizzle was experienced in some parts of Pimpri Chinchwad. 


Wind and rain was also accompanied by hail in Balewadi, Baner and Chandani Chowk.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune recorded four millimetre rainfall on Sunday. However, the maximum temperature for the day was 39.4 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature for the day was 22.6 degrees 
Celsius.

IMD forecast that Pune city may experience cloudy skies on May 14 as well. However, there will be clear skies in the coming week and day temperature will be around 39 degrees Celsius.

The highest temperature recorded on Sunday in the State was in Akola at 43.7 degrees Celsius and the lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 18.9 degrees Celsius in Wardha.
The Met department has also forecasted that dry weather in Konkan and Goa, central Maharashtra and Marathwada will be seen from May 15 to May 17. 

However, a few parts of Vidarbha may experience heat wave during the same time.
