Railways conduct massive ticket checking drive

In the ticket checking mission, the Railways collected Rs 2.4 crore as fine from 36,269 passengers. Last year it collected 1.75 crore.

Pune: The Pune railway division conducted a massive ticket checking drive in Pune-Malavali, Pune-Baramati, Pune-Miraj, and Pune-Kolhapur sections. During the ticket checking mission, the Railways collected Rs 2.4 crore as fine from 36,269 passengers.

Manoj Jhawar, spokesperson of Pune Railway Division, said, “Railways has run extensive ticket checking drive. During the checking in these sections, around 15,727 passengers have been found travelling without ticket and charged Rs 1.6 crore as penalty. Last year, in the same period, Railways had collected Rs 1.75 crore as penalty from 30 thousand passengers.”

“The drive was carried out under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Milind Deouskar and Aditional Divisional Railway Manager Praful Chandra with the help of ticket inspectors and Railway Protection Force (RPF) under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Krishnath Patil,” said Jhawar.
