Railway TC arrested for ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan

The police said people gathered at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk to protest. Singh, who had gone there, suddenly started shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.

PUNE: A Railway Ticket Collector (TC) was arrested by Pune rural police for allegedly shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ when people were protesting against the Pulwama terror strike in Lonavla on Friday. 

The accused was identified as Upendra Kumar Virbahadur Singh (39), a native of Patna, who lived in Lonavla. He was charged for promoting enmity between groups. He was produced before the court which remanded him in police custody till February 18.

The police said people gathered at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk to protest. Singh, who had gone there, suddenly started shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.   

As per information, the Railways have suspended him pending investigation.
