The Pune railway division officials said, “We now have vacant space for the passengers’ movement. Heavy parcels were being loaded and unloaded from that place. We have shifted the agents, who were involved in the booking of these parcels. This will help passengers to have an easy access to the platform.”

PUNE: The Pune railway authority has created a large space for passengers’ movement near the parcel office, which was occupied by the private agents, who were involved in the booking of a large number of parcels.

The authority has shifted the agents around 2 km away from the parcel office. Now, they are complaining that they are being harassed by the railway administration.

The parcel office is located on platform number one, which is near the foot overbridge (FOB). Heavy parcels such as flowers, fruits are registered near the office. It has been observed that during the peak hours, the parcels always create problems for smooth movement of passengers.

The Pune railway division officials said, “We now have vacant space for the passengers’ movement. Heavy parcels were being loaded and unloaded from that place. We have shifted the agents, who were involved in the booking of these parcels. This will help passengers to have an easy access to the platform.”

The agents, who are working for various traders for easy booking, said the railway authority has shifted them without giving a prior notice.

Pravin Ladkat, an agent, said, “We are working for the traders, who book their parcels through us. Parcels are sent to Jaipur, Delhi, Punjab and other places. Recently, the authority asked us to vacate the place and shifted us two km away from the parcel office. This is a very long distance for us to load and parcels. It also takes too much time.”
