PIMPRI: A disappointed Rahul Jadhav, who was one of the main contenders for the Standing Committee Chairman’s post, continued his rebellion, as he submitted a fresh resignation.

Earlier too, Jadhav had submitted his resignation to Mayor Nitin Kalje but it was not accepted. Following MLA Mahesh Landge’s meeting with Chief Minister Fadnavis, it was assumed that the rebellion has been pacified. However, Jadhav has submitted his fresh resignation.

In a surprising turn of events, keeping aside names of front-runners for the post of Standing Committee chairman, BJP had decided to allow Mamata Gaikwad to file nomination. With this development, BJP city unit chief and MLA Laxman Jagtap once again managed to appoint his supporter as the chairperson of the Standing Committee.

This decision has triggered a rebellion among the ranks of the party. It is being speculated that the decision has disappointed Landge faction. The decision has also enraged old BJP loyalists.

As a result of this unrest, Kalje, who is a staunch supporter of Landge, offered his resignation. Rahul Jadhav and second-time BJP corporator Shital Shinde also offered their resignations from the Standing Committee.
