Pune: The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has now started taking action against the unauthorised agents present in the office premises after strict orders given by Transport Commissioner of Maharashtra Dr Pravin Gedam recently.

The Transport Department has opened an anti-agent campaign. In order to find out the evidence that the citizens are being cheated, the department has given orders to the RTO officials and employees to move around the RTO area to nab these agents. Recently, the RTO nabbed an agent after receiving complaint from retired military officer.

“Col Subhash Nalawade (Retd) complaint on senior citizens helpline number 1090. The agent Rajesh Bhosle extracted money from him. There was some delay in response from police. So, Col Nalawade approached me and then I called 100 number and briefed about the complaint. Police is investigating the case” said Sanjay Raut, Deputy Regional Transport Officer.

“Many works of RTO are now going online. Its method is simple. Citizens can work themselves. There is no need to pay the extra money to the unauthorised agent. If the citizen has any problem, contact the RTO officials. The information room for their convenience has also been started. The citizens should take advantage of this”, said the Regional Transport Officer Babasaheb Azari.

Guidance to visitors
Over a thousand people visit RTO office every day. Visitors have said that the office should display boards in the premises to guide visitors. In the absence of such boards, the visitors are left with no choice but to approach agents.

Use Sarathi 4.0, Vehicle 4.0
The 'Vehicle 4.0' and 'Sarathi 4.0' systems are being created in the RTO for the visitors, but due to the presence of agents in the premises, the systems are being mostly used by these unauthorised agents. So, the RTO has urged citizens of Pune to not fall prey to agents. The officials have also clarified that the system is easy to handle.
