According to the IMD forecast, the heatwave conditions may continue in parts of the State till April 30.

Speaking to Sakal Times, AK Srivastava, Head of Climate Monitoring and Analysis Group at IMD, Pune, the rise in temperature is due to the heatwave. “There is also an anti-cyclone present over Maharashtra, which is aiding the rise in temperature. Moreover, due to the depression over east equatorial Indian Ocean and the adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, the moisture is drawn there from the south-central India. Hence, the conditions may continue till April 29,” said Srivastava.

The IMD said the heatwave condition also prevailed at isolated places over west Madhya Pradesh.

The IMD further predicted that till April 30, heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, north coastal Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka and Kerala.

The heatwave conditions are likely at a few places over west Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha and at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh till April 30.
