Pune Railway Division starts mobile app for passengers

Pune: The Pune Railway Division has taken a step towards becoming paperless by making available unreserved tickets for suburban stations now on mobile phones. The stations under the division began the ticket booking facility from Friday. Earlier, the facility was launched at the Pune junction.

“Passengers will be able to book tickets within 2-km radius from the railway station, station building or railway track. During the checking of tickets, passengers can show the image of the ticket received on their mobile. Also, passengers can show their ticket without having an Internet connection through the ‘show ticket option’. The ticket will not be transferred to any other passenger and it cannot be cancelled,” said Manoj Jhawar, Spokesperson of Pune Railway Division.

Booking of the ticket can be done by registration and R-wallet.

For registration, passengers have to give details such as mobile numbers followed by name, gender, date of birth, ID card number, city etc. They get the login ID and password via SMS. Similarly, for R-wallet, passengers use the option to make payment.

R-wallet can be recharged on UTS counters or online IRCTC’s common payment gateway utsonmobile.indian.rail.gov.in.
“Railway has held many workshops and seminars to increase the use of the mobile app for booking
tickets,” Jhawar said.
