Pune: Two office bearers of a co-operative contract labour supplying firm have been booked by police for siphoning off Rs 5.29 lakh, which was handed over to them by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for depositing into the provident fund (PF) accounts of the contract labours.

Chandrakant Indalkar, a ward officer with PCMC, has lodged a FIR against Sachin Kale, president of Dev Swayarozgar Sahakari Sanstha and employee Ashok Thorat, both residents of Chinchwad.

According to police, the PCMC had hired 12 contract labourers from the respective  co-operative organisation for carrying out the conservancy work in the Ward E of PCMC.
The contract was awarded in the year 2015.

As per the contract rules, the supplier was supposed to add its own share to the contribution of PF given by PCMC and deposit it in the PF accounts of the 12 contract employees.

Instead of doing this, the accused persons seems to have used the money.
