Pune: Pune police has arrested Rajesh alias Pandit Agrawal, an agent of jailed underworld don Chhota Rajan, in connection with the murder of city-based builder Deven Shah. Agrawal was arrested from Connaught Place area of Delhi and brought to Pune on Tuesday.
Sakal Times was the first to report (January 17, 2018 edition) about the connection of Indore-based Agrawal in the murder of Deven Shah, who was shot dead in the parking lot of his residence at Prabhat Road on Saturday night by two men identified as Ravindra Chorge and Rahul Shivtare.
Agrawal contacted the accused shooters many times a day prior to the murder of Shah on the night of January 13. He went absconding immediately after Shah’s murder and was on run till his arrest in Delhi.
Agrawal had four mobile numbers on his name and was residing at Shriji Valley Township in Bicholi Mardana area in Indore. In January when Pune police reached his flat, it was locked and they learnt that he was unavailable a day after the murder of Shah and all his cell phones were switched off.
Agrawal used to live in the upmarket Manishpuri area of Saket Nagar in Indore. But three years ago, he shifted to Shriji Valley Township with his wife, whereas his parents live in Bhopal.
Sameer Shaikh, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, said,
“He was on run from along time and we have finally arrested him. We are going to interrogate him in order to know about his exact role and motive behind the Shah’s murder.”
