Pune dist collectorate to promote welfare schemes

Pune: With the failure of the government department in the implementation of various State government welfare schemes, the district collectorate will runn a two-month campaign to promote such schemes in Pune district.

While addressing a press conference, District Collector Saurabh Rao said that government officials have failed in pushing benefits of welfare schemes to needy people.”Keeping this in mind, government officials from various departments will hold awareness campaigns at the district level so that needy persons can avail such benefits. Though the amount is not much, the funds allocated for such welfare schemes should be utilised,” added Rao.

Recently, the State government has issued a government resolution to strictly utlise three per cent funds of poverty alleviation schemes for  disabled persons. Rao highlighted that persons belonging to below poverty level group, disabled persons, retired commercial sex workers, eunuchs and various members of the society have different welfare schemes but the funds remain unutilised.

This has forced the officials to run the awareness campaigns from November 15, 2017, to January 15, 2018, he added

The collector said that flex boards about Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana will be displayed at 28 different hospitals of the city so that people can get the benefit. As per officials of district collectorate, only 653 people in Pune district were benefitted under Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Vidhwa Nivrutt Vetan Yojana for widows. Of the 653 persons, there was no beneficiary from Pune city. Similarly, Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Apang Nivrutt Vetan Yojana for disabled persons had 116 beneficiaries from Pune district with none from Pune city.
