Pune Cantonment Board tables total budget of Rs. 326 cr

Pune: Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) has tabled a total budget of Rs 326 crore for current financial year 2018-19 during the General Body meeting held on Saturday. Last year, the PCB had presented annual budget of Rs 214 crore.

The big projects, which are slated to come up this year, include concrete channelisation of Bhairoba Nala, construction of banking and financial complex at Dhobi Ghat, multi-level car parking buildings at Lloyd Road, Doctor Coyaji Road and Nepean Road, sports complex at Golibaar Maidan. Similarly, Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy Garden (JJ Garden) located at Bootee Street, Camp, will be converted into podium garden. Out of these five projects, for three projects including Bhairoba Nala, multi-level car parking building and banking financial complex, the Board approved budget of Rs 86 crore, Rs 18 crore and Rs 15 crore respectively.

DN Yadav, Chief Executive Officer of PCB, during the meeting, said, “The total budget for this financial year i.e. 2018-19 is Rs 326 crore. Out of which, the estimated project cost is Rs 225 crore. From the total amount required for projects, we have set aside Rs 194 crore. Out of this, Rs 125 crore will be spent on these three projects.”

He also mentioned that the estimated  budget for next financial year will be Rs 359 crore. The board has approved the budget for three projects this year, as the budget for remaining two projects including sports complex and podium garden is yet to be chalked out, informed Yadav.

The approved budget for the three projects will be sent to Ministry of Defence for their approval, after which, the project will commence, added Yadav.
