PUNE: Pune-based Saumitra Shinde, a Std X student of Dr Shamrao Kalmadi High School, bagged the ‘SEED IT Idol Junior’ title of 2017, which was held recently at Annabhau Sathe Auditorium, Satara Road. This was the fourth edition of this competition, conceptualised and conducted by SEED Infotech.
A Std VIII student, Shriya Subeerya of Indira National School, was the first runner-up while Anish Pophale, a 10th grader from MES Bal Shikshan Mandir, was the second runner-up. The winner received a cash prize of Rs 5,000 while the first and second runners-up received Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively.
All the finalists were felicitated and given attractive gifts like T-shirts, bags, discount coupons, along with certificates and six months membership of Prabhu Dnyan Mandir. The prizes were given by Shailaja Mudhale, Head - HR, SEED Infotech Ltd. SEED also distributed 50 medals of merit and gave six months membership at Prabhu Dnyan Mandir to other students.
The first round of the contest was conducted throughout the month of August, which saw the participation of around 11,000 students from Std VIII, IX and X from around 20 schools across the city. Out of all the participants, around 800 students made it through the second round and 10 best of those were in the finals.
To make the competition tough, all the finalists were made to appear for an online exam on a specially created software, where only 30 seconds were allotted to answer each question of the series related to IT and computers.
