Pune-based Sanskar Pratishthan celebrates Diwali in Gadchiroli

Pimpri: A city-based organisation, Sanskar Pratishthan, along with Tata Volunteering Group, celebrated Diwali with tribals in Naxal affected area in Gadchiroli district. This is second such year of celebration. 

A team of 27 members visited Jimalgatta, Bhamragad, Alapalli, Perupalli and Hemalkasa. They offered clothes and other gift articles to the tribal population residing there.

Mohan Gaikwad of Sanskar Pratishthan said, "We handed over 5,000 sarees, dresses for men, women and kids. The team also distributed 200 tins of protein and other supplements to the children." Gaikwad added that as part of Diwali celebrations, around 1,000 homes were decorated with lanterns.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Dr Santosh Gaikwad had earlier appealed to people to come forward and donate to the tribals. Dr Kiran Patel, Dr Mrunal Phondekar and Dr Arvind Waghchore conducted health check-up for tribals in Jimalgatta. The tribals staying within the radius of 25 km from this village had come for the check-up.
