PUNE: Under the State government’s drive for online updation of right of records (7/12 extract of land), the Pune district collectorate is optimistic about completing the Chawadi Vachan programme in 98 per cent villages by June 15. District Collector Saurabh Rao said Chawadi Vachan of the right of records documents has been already done at 1,197 out of 1,909 villages.

This drive is being conducted after the State government appealed to citizens to verify the computerised right of records online and decided to conduct their public readings or Chawadi Vachan at all villages. Rao said farmers can submit their objections by marking copies of the records with a red pen.

The digitisation of 7/12 extracts, considered an important document to ascertain the ownership of land or cropping pattern for loan disbursal purpose, was to be completed on May 1, but got delayed due to the server and other issues. Moreover, many landowners had complained that computerised database of 7/12 documents was erroneous as there were mistakes in the names of land owners or measurement of plots belonging to them.

Rao said Chawadi Vachan will be conducted in the remaining villages from June 15 to July 15. The corrections will be carried out till August 1. He added that officers of the rank of circle officer and the ranks above have been asked to remain present at this public reading of 7/12 records.
