Private agencies to lose their Aadhaar contract

It may be recalled that a few private agencies were awarded Aadhaar enrollment contract after issuance of tenders

Pune: The State government has taken a decision to discontinue the contract awarded to private agencies appointed for enrollment of Aadhaar. Following this decision, the agency appointed in Pune district has been asked to deposit machines at district collectorate by Friday evening.

It may be recalled that a few private agencies were awarded Aadhaar enrollment contract after issuance of tenders.

However, as their contract got over, the government decided to complete the remaining enrollment using government machinery. So the machines withdrawn from these agencies will be kept at Maha e-Seva Centres and other government offices and at municipal corporation office.

A meeting chaired by District Collector Saurabh Rao was held at the district collectorate on Monday. The meeting was attended by representatives of private companies and controllers at these enrollment centres. Rao said that the agency appointed for Aadhaar enrollment in Pune district which had over 270 machines in its possession had been asked to return them. He added that these machines will be kept at Maha e-Seva Centres.
