Power disconnected in 45K households

In the last fortnight, the power supply of 28,620 households in Pune was discontinued due to outstanding dues of Rs 8.13 crore.

Pune: Despite repeated appeals from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to pay dues and avoid discontinuation of electricity supply, the department has finally taken action against 45,079 consumers over clearance of dues amounting to Rs 18.73 crore. 

The action was taken against domestic, commercial and industrial sectors under the Pune region under the guidance of Regional Director Sanjay Takasande and Chief Engineer MG Shinde.

Superintending engineers, executive engineers, all sub-divisional and branch office-head engineers, accounting officers and thousands of employees participated.

In the last fortnight, the power supply of 28,620 households in Pune was discontinued due to outstanding dues of Rs 8.13 crore.

Electricity supply was disconnected of 8,520 consumers in Pimpri-Chinchwad in Bhosari and Pimpri divisions. The outstanding dues of these consumers was Rs 5.26 crore. Similarly, supply of 7,939 households in Mulshi, Junnar, Ambegaon, Maval and Khed talukas under Mulshi, Manchar and Rajgurunagar divisions was discontinued due to the outstanding dues of Rs. 5.34 crore.
