Pooja Sakat’s father Suresh booked by Pune rural police

Pune: Suresh Sakat, the father of Pooja Sakat, who was a witness in the Koregaon-Bhima violence and was found dead in a well on Sunday, has been booked by Pune rural police. 

Based on a complaint by Asha Darekar, who is a relative of one of the accused in Pooja’s abetment of suicide case, Shikrapur police have charged Suresh for offences under sections 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

Based on a complaint by Asha Darekar, who is a relative of one of the accused in Pooja’s abetment of suicide case, Shikrapur police have charged Suresh for offences under sections 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. 

Police Inspector Ramesh Galande, In-charge of Shikrapur police station, said, “We have registered a non-cognisable (NC) offence against Suresh, based on a complaint from Darekar.” Republican Party of India staged a protest on Tuesday demanding justice for Pooja.
