Politicos scramble to claim credit for upcoming commissionerate in PCMC

Pimpri: The political leadership in the city is busy trying to grab credit for the State government's recent announcement to create a separate commissionerate for Pimpri Chinchwad. Shiv Sena Shirur MP Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil claimed that the recent announcement was the result of his continuous followup of this long-standing demand. Patil shared this in a Facebook post. 

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced in the State Assembly that the government has already planned a new commissionerate for Pimpri-Chinchwad and its work will start in a few months.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced in the State Assembly that the government has already planned a new commissionerate for Pimpri-Chinchwad and its work will start in a few months.

Similarly, commissionerates have been planned for Mira Bhayandar and Kolhapur. Fadnavis shared that the government has received reports of Pimpri-Chinchwad and Mira Bhayander, and the report from Kolhapur is pending. 

According to officials from the Home Department, the State Finance Department also sanctioned the final assessment of expenditure for setting up of a new police commissionerate in Pimpri-Chinchwad. This includes the expenditure towards manpower, infrastructure, vehicles, salary and allied details.

According to the the Home Department's estimate, Rs 323 crore will be the expenditure for the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate, which would be for a population of 22 to 23 lakh, including 4-5 lakh population from the rural areas around the twin industrial township.
