Political parties condemn BJP MLA Ram Kadam’s statement

Dipti Chaudhari, former MLA of Congress Party, said, “Congress Party and I personally condemned the statement on women. BJP should take strict action against Kadam. They should remove from the party. If they don’t do it, it means the party is supporting it. BJP has got a majority in State and Centre so their leaders are making such kind of statement against women.”

Pune: Political parties and social organisations have condemned Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ram Kadam’s derogatory remark on women. Party leaders across the political parties have also demanded that he should be sacked from the party.
 
Ram Kadam made a controversy on Monday by saying that he would help young men elope with girls they want to marry. Women leaders have taken strong objection to Kadam’s statement. Political parties and social organisations held protests In various parts of the city.

While speaking to Sakal Times, Dipti Chaudhari, former MLA of Congress Party, said, “Congress Party and I personally condemned the statement on women. BJP should take strict action against Kadam. They should remove from the party. If they don’t do it, it means the party is supporting it. BJP has got a majority in State and Centre so their leaders are making such kind of statement against women.”
 
While condemning Kadam’s statement, Neelam Gorhe, Shiv Sena MLC, said, “I am surprised that how can BJP keep mum on this kind of shameless statement. BJP leaders from Hindi speaking belt often make such derogatory remarks against women.

Now, it has reached to secular and progressive state like Maharashtra. Kadam’s remark is one of them. BJP is giving royal patronage to people who are making derogatory remarks against women. It is very bad.”
 
A Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader termed it as ‘Beti Bhagao’ campaign. Vandana Chavan, Member of Parliament (MP) of NCP, said, “On one side, BJP government is running a campaign ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” and the other side, their party leaders are publicly announcing ‘Beti Bhagao’. It is a shameless act. BJP should remove Kadam from the party.”
