NCP leader claims need was first expressed by Ajit Pawar

Pimpri: Following the State cabinet’s nod for the establishment of a police commissionerate for Pimpri-Chinchwad, several local organisations, political parties and office bearers have welcomed the move.

On the other hand, Leader of Opposition in PCMC Yogesh Behl said, “The concept of a separate commissionarate for Pimpri-Chinchwad was first raised by NCP leader Ajit Pawar. Now, it has become a reality. This is a welcome move indeed. This will help reduce crime in the city.”

Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge said, “Our follow-up has borne fruit. The decision will help to reduce the rising crime rate and incidents of violence against women and girls. The government’s decision will address these issues. We acknowledge the efforts taken by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Guardian Minister Girish Bapat.”

Shiv Sena MLA from Pimpri Gautam Chabukswar said, “My party has followed up this issue for the last two and a half years. During the Assembly session, I had raised the question about the issue. At that time, the CM had hinted that the government is creating a separate police commissionerate. With this decision, there will be more police presence in the city and the law and order and traffic situation will improve.”

BJP MLA from Maval Bala Bhegade said, “An independent commissionerate for Pimpri-Chinchwad is a landmark decision by the State government. In rural areas, due to shortage of police officers and employees, they had to work overtime for maintaining law and order. With this decision, a large number of human resources will be available. The general public will get more safety.”
