Police yet to find witness in Hinjawadi hit-and-run case

Pune: The father of a 27-year-old girl who died in a hit-and-run case near Hinjawadi on Thursday morning is in a state of shock that no witness has come forward to give any clue to the police about the accident. 

The accident spot has no CCTV camera, but the road stretch is used by more than 10,000 vehicles every morning. The accident occurred near Vedant Super Market on Marunji Road towards Hinjawadi. The deceased, Pratibha Mohan Tambe, was on her way from Thergaon to Hinjawadi Phase I where she worked in a multi-national company.

Police Sub-Inspector D Nikam is investigating the case said that no witness could be found in the case on Friday too. Nikam said that the case will be handed over to another police official for investigation.

Speaking to Sakal Times, Pratibha's father, Mohan, said that Pratibha was an avid rider. "She was riding a motorcycle since she was in standard X. During her college days, she used to travel by a motorcycle. It is strange that no witness is coming forward in the case," said Mohan.

On Thursday morning, Pratibha was on her motorcycle, a Yamaha Fazer, when was hit by an unidentified vehicle. Nikam, who rushed to the spot, said that Pratibha was wearing a helmet. "Her autopsy report stated that she died due to liver and heart damage. She was taken to a private hospital in Hinjawadi Phase I, but could not survive," added Nikam.
