Police under pressure from State govt, allege victims

Pune: The victims in the DSK Group fraud case on Sunday gathered outside the Ruby Hall Clinic in Wanawadi and expressed their support to ACP (EOW) Nilesh More who was admitted to the hospital for a stress-related ailment.

More is the Investigating Officer (IO) in the Rs 2,043-crore fraud case of city-based real estate developer DS Kulkarni.

The flat investors, fixed deposit holders and other victims alleged that the Pune city police are under pressure from the State government to go soft on the top officials of the Bank of Maharashtra (BoM), who were arrested for providing loan illegally to DSK Group. They alleged that IO More and Public Prosecutor Pravin Chavan are under tremendous pressure from the Chief Minister.

The young ACP had to be admitted to hospital on Friday after he complained of chest pain. His condition is said to be stable now.

One of the victims, Sanjay Ashrit who claimed he was cheated of Rs 18 lakh, said, “We came here to support ACP More who is under tremendous pressure in the case. The police officers should not think that they are alone, as all the citizens are with them.”

A senior citizen Ashok Gosavi added, “The accused persons are being released, while police officers are being hounded by the government. The investigating officer and the public prosecutor should not be changed.”

The investors said they have lodged a complaint against the housing finance companies and banks with the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), National Housing Bank and Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

The victims demanded criminal cases against sub-registrar, Mulshi and revenue department officials for registering the disputed land of DSK real estate projects.
