Police rescue abducted youth, nab three goons

According to the police, the businessman is a construction materials supplier and has a shop in Timber Market area. On Saturday evening, his son was going on a two-wheeler, when the accused persons abducted him and took him away in a vehicle.

PUNE: A 29-year-old son of a businessman was allegedly abducted for ransom of Rs 20 crore on Saturday evening. After a massive search operation by a joint team of Khadak police station and Crime Branch of Pune city, the police nabbed three history-sheeters and safely rescued him.

The arrested accused were identified as  Suraj Laxman Chavan (25) of Satara, Arbaz  Firoz Khan (27) of Bhavani Peth, Fardeen Parvez Khan (19) of Kondhwa Khurd and Sahil Abdul Shaikh (23) of Mithanagar, Kondhwa. Their associates Shahbaz Khan, Suyash Waghmare are on the run. In this case, the 57-year-old businessman has registered an FIR with the Khadak police station.

On Saturday evening, his son was going on a two-wheeler, when the accused persons abducted him and took him away in a vehicle. The complainant was not able to contact on his mobile phone. Around 5 pm, Suyash and Shahbaz, who are known to the complainant, told him to pay Rs 20 crore to release his son. When the complainant informed Shahbaz’s father, he was threatened of dire consequences by the accused persons. After that he approached the police.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, a joint team of the officials from Crime Branch and Khadak police station was formed to trace the accused persons and rescue the abducted the youth. The police said the businessman agreed to pay Rs 15 lakh and he was asked to come near Jyoti Hotel in Kondhwa to hand over the ransom money. The cops nabbed Suraj who came to collect the amount. Later his accomplices were chased and nabbed near Katraj chowk while they were taking away the abducted youth in a tempo.

On Sunday, a judicial magistrate remanded the four arrested accused to police custody till October 15.

The investigation team included Khadak police station’s Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Mokashi,   Inspector (Crime) Vijaykumar Shinde, API Vaibhav Pawar, Umaji Rathod, PSI Rakesh Sarde, and PSI Dinesh Patil of Crime Branch Unit 1 and other officials.
