Police recover two pistols and five cartridges

“The seized pistols and live cartridges are worth Rs 1.03 lakh. He had got them from Madhya Pradesh and wanted to sell them here. Earlier, his accomplices were arrested in another case. A magistrate court has remanded him to police custody till Monday,” said DCP (crime) Pankaj Dahane.

PUNE: Sleuths from Crime Branch unit 3 of Pune city police have recovered two pistols and five cartridges from a man from Ahmednagar. 

In another incident, a youth has been nabbed for stealing a bike in Pimpri. 

In the first case, based on a tip-off received by policeman Atul Sathe, a team led by Police Inspector Sitaram More laid a trap in Koregaon Park on Wednesday and nabbed Ganesh Karbhari Sable (28). He is a resident of Panaswadi in Nevasa taluka of Ahmednagar district.

“The seized pistols and live cartridges are worth Rs 1.03 lakh. He had got them from Madhya Pradesh and wanted to sell them here. Earlier, his accomplices were arrested in another case. A magistrate court has remanded him to police custody till Monday,” said DCP (crime) Pankaj Dahane.

In the second incident, acting on a tip-off received by policeman Rohidas Lawande, cops nabbed Mobin Mehboob Shaikh (22) in Pimpri on Wednesday for allegedly stealing a bike and then using it by changing its registration number. 

“Shaikh kept a watch on students coming to a coaching centre near his house in Nehru Nagar area of Pimpri. Then using a duplicate key, he had stolen a bike about a month back. Shaikh has studied Animation 3D,” said ACP (crime branch) Suresh Bhosale. 

Investigation team included Assistant Police Inspector Ravindra Babar and policemen Ashok Bhosale, Raju Rasge, Anil Bhosale, Gajanan Ganbote, Mahendra Pawar, Sujit Pawar, Sandip Talekar, Kalpesh Bansode and Sudhir Sonawane.
