Police may drop charges against actor Juvekar

According to the police, the pandal had already occupied half the road while crowd blocked the traffic near Suparna Mangal Karyalaya at Aranyeshwar Chowk around 9 pm.

PUNE: Actor Santosh Juvekar along with members of a Dahi Handi mandal has been booked by Pune city police for allegedly preventing police when they tried to stop people from creating noise pollution. The crowd was also obstructing traffic in Sahakar Nagar on Monday night. 

Though the actor didn’t turn up, people had gathered in large number as his posters had been put up. 

According to the police, the pandal had already occupied half the road while crowd blocked the traffic near Suparna Mangal Karyalaya at Aranyeshwar Chowk around 9 pm. When Senior Police Inspector Anil Shewale, In-charge of Sahakar Nagar police station, instructed the organisers to clear the road, they paid no heed. Thus, the police officials slapped charges of a hindrance to traffic, noise pollution and use criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty against them. 

Along with the organisers, the police also booked Juvekar since his name was on the flexes advertising him as a chief guest at that event.

The actor could not be reached for his comments.
