Police inspector shot, robbed of car on Pune-Solapur road

Pune: A police inspector attached to a police training centre in Daund was attacked by four persons who shot him in his leg and robbed him of his car and mobile phone in the wee hours of Monday on Pune-Solapur Road in Yavat.

The complainant, Police Inspector Mahesh Telgaji was on his way to Daund in his car from his home.

He was on his way to Daund on Monday when four suspects in an Ertiga car were passing from the same route. One of the suspects told Mahesh that the disc of his rear wheel is about to come out. Mahesh halted the car to take a look. When Mahesh got down from the car the suspects attacked him. Two suspects held Mahesh and one started assaulting him with an iron rod and the fourth suspect tried to start the car. Mahesh raised an alarm after which one of the suspects shot Mahesh in his leg and all the suspects fled from the spot along with Mahesh’s Swift Desire car and his mobile phone.

Mahesh was admitted to a hospital in Yavat. Police Inspector Dhanyakumar Godse is investigating the case. Police officials are checking CCTV footage at various toll plazas. The police said the suspects were speaking in Hindi. Mahesh told the police that one suspect was wearing a safari suit, the second a T-shirt and short pants, the third a white shirt and pants. The police said all suspects are in the age group of 30-35 years.
