Police crack murder case

The deceased was identified as Omkar Jadhav, 20, a resident of Ravet who was murdered by his friends Bilal Aatar, 20 and Imtiaz Shaikh, 20, both residents of Nigdi.

PUNE: The Khadki police have solved the blind murder of a youth whose body was found on June 1 in Khadki. The police had identified the deceased with the help of Facebook and arrested two friends of the deceased who allegedly committed the murder.

The deceased was identified as Omkar Jadhav, 20, a resident of Ravet who was murdered by his friends Bilal Aatar, 20 and Imtiaz Shaikh, 20, both residents of Nigdi.

Shaikh was arrested from Nigdi, whereas, Aatar was arrested by police from Solapur. The accused murdered their friend Jadhav over an argument to drive an autorickshaw. On the night of June 1, all three of them consumed alcohol and while they were returning back Aatar and Sheikh had an argument with Jadhav which lead to his murder.

The accused bludgeoned him to death and then smashed his face with a stone in order to hide his identity.

According to the Khadki police, they received a tip-off about the identity of accused from a woman who saw the poster of the deceased’s body in Dehu Road. After being informed by the woman, the police went to Dehu Road and found that the youth was missing from a house while investigating further, they confirmed his identity using Facebook. The clothes found on the deceased body were matching with his photo posted on Facebook.

During further investigation, police tracked his friends turned killers and arrested them.
